Crash Duel X is made by SmartSoft Gaming, not Evoplay. It launched in late December 2023. The main Sun bet is a normal crash bet at 96% RTP (4% house edge) with a 5,000x ceiling. The Sheriff and Bandit side bets pay a fixed 1.5x to 50x if your team wins the rope pull, and they lose more often than the main bet. Bets run from about €/$0.05 to €/$200. 🏢 Who makes Crash Duel X (and who does not)
Crash Duel X is a SmartSoft Gaming title. SmartSoft is the Georgian-founded studio that released JetX in 2018 and has since built a whole “X” range around it: Cricket X, Football X, Helicopter X, CarX and the rest. The company now lists a Malta head office (Tower Business Centre, Birkirkara) and holds a Malta Gaming Authority B2B licence, MGA/B2B/925/2021. Every operator lobby we checked, from Sportsbet.io to Rainbet to Fairspin, files Crash Duel X under SmartSoft.
Evoplay does not make Crash Duel X. The claim turns up in search suggestions, in a few review sites, and in the occasional casino blog, but it is wrong. Evoplay’s own instant-game catalogue has no title called Crash Duel or Crash Duel X. Evoplay’s only true crash game at the time of writing is Avia Rush (April 2025), and the closest thing it has to a “duel” is Cricket Duel, a batting mini-game with nothing in common with this one. There is a second source of confusion. SmartSoft’s own website lists the game simply as “Crash Duel”, while operators and aggregators almost universally call it “Crash Duel X”. The description on SmartSoft’s page (“pick your side and watch the tension build as two teams battle it out in a pull for victory”) matches the game covered here. Treat the two names as one product.

🎮 How the duel works, step by step
Strip the Wild West art away and Crash Duel X is a crash game with two extra betting boxes. The scene is a canyon. Two teams, Sheriffs and Bandits, pull on a rope with a bag of gold in the middle. A multiplier ticks upward from 1.00x while they pull. At a random moment the rope snaps: that is the crash. Anything not cashed out on the main bet is lost. The tug-of-war itself decides the two side bets. Here is a round in order.
Place the Sun bet
The Sun bet is the standard crash bet. Set a stake (operators report a floor of €/$0.05 to €/$0.20 and a ceiling of €/$200) before the betting window closes. Optionally set an auto cash-out target, for example 1.80x.
Add a Sheriff or Bandit side bet (or both, or neither)
The two side boxes let you back a team to win the rope pull. Each has its own stake, independent of the Sun bet. The payout shown on the box is fixed for the round, somewhere between 1.5x and 50x. You can play a side bet with no Sun bet at all.
The multiplier climbs
The rope tightens and the Sun multiplier rises from 1.00x. Nothing you do affects when it stops. The crash point was decided by the RNG before the round started.
Cash out the Sun bet, or do not
Press Collect (or let the auto cash-out fire) and your Sun stake is multiplied by the number on screen. If the rope snaps first, the Sun stake is gone. Maximum on this bet is 5,000x.
The rope snaps and the duel resolves
One team ends up with the gold. Side bets on that team pay their fixed multiplier; side bets on the other team lose. Side bets cannot be cashed out early. The next betting window opens within a few seconds.
The important structural point: the Sun bet is decided by a timing choice you control, while the side bets are pure fixed-odds outcomes you cannot influence once placed. That makes Crash Duel X a hybrid of a crash game and a coin-flip-style instant game, which SmartSoft described as the first time it had added “crash side bets” to a title.
📝 For the record: SmartSoft has not published how the side-bet odds are set for a given round, whether the winning team is tied to the crash multiplier, or a separate RTP figure for the side bets. The 1.5x to 50x range comes from operator descriptions and SmartSoft’s launch coverage. Until the studio publishes a paytable, assume the side bets are priced at or below the main bet’s 96%, not above it.
⚙️ Features: auto cash-out, autoplay and the naming clash
The feature list is what you would expect from a 2023 SmartSoft release. Manual cash-out and auto cash-out are both present on the Sun bet. Autoplay lets you fix a stake and a cash-out threshold and let the game run round after round, which is exactly the setting to be careful with, because it removes the natural pause between decisions. There is a round history strip showing recent crash multipliers, and the game runs in HTML5 at a reported 11.9 MB, so it loads on a phone without fuss. There is no in-game chat and no live bets feed of the kind Aviator shows, at least in the operator builds we looked at. There is no half cash-out either, which Spaceman has and which matters more than it sounds for a bet-splitting strategy.
One thing that trips up searchers: “Crash Duel” is also the name of at least two casino brands that have nothing to do with SmartSoft. CrashDuel.com is a US sweepstakes-style social casino operated by Thinkway Ltd and launched in 2025, and it does carry Crash Duel X in its lobby, which is presumably where the name came from. Separately, a site trading as Duel Casino markets its own “Crash Duel”, a player-versus-player crash pot where two people race to the higher cash-out. If you searched “crash duel casino” you have probably landed on one of those. Neither is the SmartSoft game and this page does not review either brand.
🔍 Worth noting
Some operator pages list the max win as 10,000x rather than 5,000x. SlotCatalog, Casino Guru, PokerListings, SlotsJudge and Sportsbet.io all give 5,000x for the Sun bet, and SmartSoft’s launch coverage describes a “maximum win cap of 10,000x”, which may refer to the combined ceiling across all three bets. Plan on 5,000x for the main bet. One review site also reports a €/$10,000 cash cap; we could not confirm that against SmartSoft, and operators can and do set their own caps.
📊 RTP, house edge and the real max win
The published RTP is 96%. That means a 4% house edge: for every €/$100 staked on the Sun bet over the long run, the game keeps €/$4. That is SmartSoft’s usual default (JetX also ships at 97% by default but is operator-configurable between roughly 96.2% and 98.9%), and it is one point worse than Aviator’s fixed 97% and half a point worse than Spaceman’s 96.5%. Against the crypto-native crash games at 99%, Stake Crash and BC.Game Crash, it is three points worse, which over a long session is the difference between losing €/$1 and losing €/$4 per €/$100 of turnover.
We have not seen an operator-configurable RTP range published for Crash Duel X. SmartSoft does publish a range for JetX and CarX, so it would not be surprising if this title had one too. The safe approach is to open the in-game info panel on whichever site you are using and read the RTP printed there, because that number governs your session, not the one in a review, and the same game can run at different prices on different sites.
On max win: 5,000x is the ceiling on the Sun bet. At the €/$200 maximum stake, that is €/$1,000,000 on paper. No operator is going to pay that, and most set a per-round or per-bet cash cap somewhere in the thousands. The €/$10,000 figure floating around review sites is plausible as an operator cap but is not a SmartSoft number. Compare that to JetX, where the 25,000x ceiling is similarly theoretical.

🔢 Your real chance of reaching a multiplier
A crash game with RTP r has, in its standard form, a probability of reaching any target multiplier m of roughly r divided by m. At 96% that gives the table below. The last column is the point of the whole exercise: whatever target you pick, the expected return on a €/$1 Sun bet is €/$0.96. The target changes the shape of your results, not the price.
Two notes on that table. First, SmartSoft has not published its crash-point distribution, so the figures assume the standard shape that Bustabit established and most studios copy; the real curve may differ slightly at the extremes. Second, a round that reaches 2x pays 2x, but 52% of rounds do not get there, and at 96% the losers outweigh the winners by exactly the house edge. There is no target that beats it.
💡 Key insight
The side bets look like a hedge and are not one. A Sheriff bet at 1.5x wins less than half the time by design (otherwise the game would pay out more than it takes in), and its result is independent of whether you cashed out the Sun bet in time. Placing all three bets does not spread risk. It triples the number of house edges you are paying in the same round.
🛡️ Is Crash Duel X provably fair?
No. Crash Duel X, like every SmartSoft title, uses a server-side random number generator that has been tested by an independent laboratory (SmartSoft’s certifications are reported through iTech Labs and Gaming Associates, and the studio’s MGA B2B licence requires certified RNG). That is a real form of fairness, and it is the same model that regulated slots use. It is not the same thing as provably fair.
Provably fair, in the sense that our explainer uses, means the game shows you a hash of the round result before betting opens and lets you check afterwards, with your own seed, that the result was not changed. Aviator does this with SHA-512. Stake Crash does it with HMAC-SHA256 and a bitcoin block salt. Crash Duel X gives you no seed, no hash and no verifier. You are trusting the lab certificate and the licence, not a calculation you can run yourself.
One operator page (Sportsbet.io) describes the game as having a “provably fair system” verifiable via SHA-256. We could find nothing on SmartSoft’s site or in the game client that supports this, and the same wording appears on that operator’s pages for other RNG games. Treat it as boilerplate. If cryptographic verification matters to you, Aviator or Stake Crash is where to look instead.
Where can you play it under a proper licence? SmartSoft holds an MGA B2B licence (MGA/B2B/925/2021) and a Romanian ONJN class 2 licence (reported as 1180/2021), with approvals also reported in Greece and Ontario. There is no UK Gambling Commission licence on the public list for SmartSoft, and we found no UK-licensed site offering Crash Duel X. Most losses on this game beyond the 4% edge come from three habits: treating the side bets as insurance, chasing a snapped rope with a bigger Sun bet, and leaving autoplay running with a high target because the last few rounds happened to reach it. None of those is a Crash Duel X problem specifically. They are crash-game problems with cowboys on top. What follows is the short list that actually changes your results.
- Read the RTP in the game’s own info panel. If it says anything other than 96%, the operator has changed it, and that number is the one you are paying.
- Decide what the side bets are for before you place one. They are a separate fixed-odds bet at an undisclosed edge. If you would not bet on a coin flip at these odds, do not bet on the rope.
